Hello everyone! I am happy to see that there are still many people who are checking out our LSP website & even more who keep on asking us when are the new performances coming. Since we've been working successfully for more than five years (!), we decided to go totally official & start our own production company. Our focus is on staged performances, but there will be more activities to come as well. We are thinking of master classes and festivals and a full blown national tour with our own in-house productions. Ideas are abundant, and possibilities are endless. Luckily, both Pétur and I have the energy and enthusiasm to sustain the pressure. We are working hard to bring a new production to Utrecht this spring. The production is already in full swing, and you can expecting more exciting details to be released soon. Please go on our brand new, smashing website to stay up to date with all the drama! :p www.UtrechtCityOpera.nl |

We are happy to announce new performance of La serva padrona! The whole team is coming to the beautiful Ammersoyen castle in the heart of the Netherlands. The perfromance will take place on Saturday, November 21st at 8 p.m. A couple of weeks ago, Pétur and I wet to visit the location and we can report that it is truly breathtakingly beautiful! Built in 1350s, it feels like you stepped into a piece of history and are transported in world of knights, tournaments and damsels in distress. Check out the castle photos and history on this link. We are happy to bring you not only the story of Uberto & Serpina, but our wonderful ensemble will be performing two more trio sonatas by Sammartini and Corelli. This performance is organized in collaboration with the Kasteelconcerten association, and the tickets are available to purchase on this link. Come and have a great evening with wonderful music and lots of laugh!
Happy news! Our crowdfund campaign ended last Sunday after two exciting months. We feel deeply grateful to all who supported us and helped us to even over-reach our target. Together we made 105%! As you can imagine, that fact cleared away a lot of stress, but we are happy to have such great supporters who belied in our project as much as we do. We dedicated a page on our website to all of you who made our mission possible. Lately we have been mostly occupied with music and stage rehearsals and the show is starting to get the final shape. I won't lie to you, this is the best part of the job and we are truly having fun. It's our goal to bring that fun to the audience as well. The premiere is only 3 weeks away and now finally after one whole year of careful preparations, we feel like we are becoming more and more our characters. As performing artists know, it is always a challenge to portray someone who is miles away from your own personality, but that is also one of the reasons that make this profession so alluring. We'll update you with news every week and don't forget to join our Facebook page to see some exclusive snippets from the ongoing rehearsals! Last week we had a fun photo-shoot session in Utrecht with our amazing photographer Felipe Pipi. Pétur & Bjarni as Uberto and Vespone were hilarious and it was excruciatingly difficult to stay serious even for a moment. Our photos were ready today and we are thrilled to reveal them to you. I already updated web site with some new content, but more is to follow so stay tuned.
Hello world!
Three days have passed since we launched our crowd funding campaign! We are very happy that our friends are already reacting enthusiastically. We have three supporters so far - yay, and we are continuing to generate interest daily. In the mean time, Petur is coming back from Iceland and in a few days we will recommence with our stage rehearsals. I can't wait! That is always the most exiting part for every singer. Or at least for me. I have been reading a lot about Pergolesi and the history of comic intermezzi in the XVIII century for the past couple of month and I am in the process of writing some interesting texts that go beyond wikipedia info. So stay tuned! |
